SIIF:
Structured Implementation
and Information Framework
Easier access to sanitation data
The European Commission entrusted
IOWater with the application of SIIF
(Structured Implementation and Infor-
mation Framework) to theUrbanWaste
Water Directive, in some pilot coun-
tries, to demonstrate its feasibility and
added value.
This 15-month project aims to set up aweb-
site presenting, in a homogeneous manner,
the sanitation situation in 3 countries of the
European Union (Cyprus, Latvia and Slove-
nia).
Based on a user-friendly interface including
maps and graphs, this website should allow
people easy retrieval of information on the
treatment plant or agglomeration of their
choice and authorize the export of all or
some data for further work.
It should also enable the European Commis-
sion to access the latest information in a for-
mat that meets the standards set for Europe
and thusprovide the latest datawhenavaila-
ble.
Once the system is fully operational, theplat-
form, including thedatabaseand thewebsite
with maps, graphs and statistics, will be
made available to other Member States for
their use.

Final Conference of the ”IWRM-net SCP” project
The six research projects on integrated
water resourcesmanagement funded in
2009 by the European IWRM-Net
consortium are now complete!
The final conference was held on
21 - 22October in Brussels at the Delegation
of the High Council of Scientific Research
(CSIC) andwas attended by about sixty parti-
cipants.
Water scarcity management, adaptation to
climate change, valuation of ecosystem
services, water markets ... Researchers,
policy-makers and managers of water
resources and aquatic environments were
invited to discuss themain results of the pro-
jects and their implications for public action
around two thematic sessions:
l
Managementofwater resourcesand
aquatic environments: innovative
solutions for adapting to climate
change,
l
Socioeconomic aspects of themana-
gement of water resources and
aquatic environments.
The summary of this conference is avai-
lable online at:
