Description of the scarce groundwater resources in the densely populated area of the Gaza Strip and the drinking water shortages affecting the poor people in that area. Austria is cooperating with the Palestinian water management authorities to develop special improved seawater desalination plants with up-to-date reverse osmosis units to limit the contamination of the aquifers and to help repair and maintain the water shops.
