DISINFECTION OF WASTEWATER BY HYDROGEN PEROXIDE OR PERACETIC ACID : DEVELOPMENT OF PROCEDURES FOR MEASUREMENT OF RESIDUAL DISINFECTANT AND APPLICATION TO A PHYSICOCHEMICALLY TREATED MUNICIPAL EFFLUENT
A method for measuring peroxycomponds (hydrogen peroxyde or peracetic acid plus hydrogen peroxyde) was developed using the peroxidase-based oxidation of 2,2' -azino-bis (3-ethylbenz - thiazoline 6 - sulfuric acid) diammonium salt with hydrogen peroxide. Validity of the method confirmed using a domestic effluent. Analysis of the kinetics of the reactions of disinfection with that method that is of a second order for both products. Definition of the doses of disinfectants in relation with ferric chloride or Alum procedures. The choice goes to paracetic acid.
