INVESTIGATION OF OXYGEN TRANSFER RATES IN FULL SCALE MEMBRANE BIOREACTORS

In membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for wastewater treatment, the secondary clarifier is replaced by a membrane filtration. In Germany two municipal full scale MBRs are in operation; several plants are in planning or under construction. The oxygen transfer rates (OTR) in two full scale municipal immerged configured MBRs were measured in order to determine the OTR of the fine-bubble aeration and of the coarse bubble "crossflow" aeration at different MLSS respectively.
