Use of PCR-based methods to detect viable enterovirus in raw and treated water supplies in South Africa over a two-year period Large number of virus are detected in waters which agree with the sanitary limits based on bacteria criteria (ie, coliforms) A need for a real risk evaluation (based on HACCP method) is highlighted to ensure safe water.
