REMOVAL OF BIOLOGICAL AND NON-BIOLOGICAL VIRAL SURROGATES BY SPIRAL-WOUND REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANE ELEMENTS WITH INTACT AND COMPROMISED INTEGRITY
Investigation of intact and purposely compromised spiralwound reverse osmosis membrane elements integrity for gaining better understanding of the dynamic of membrane performance with respect to waterborne pathogen rejection. Using two indicators of membrane integrity : the biological surrogate MS2 phage and the non-biological surrogate fluorescent-dyed polystyrene microspheres, experiments are performed to assess the passage of the indicators as a fonction of feed water pressure, permeate flux rate and operating time.
