PHOSPHORUS REMOVAL FROM MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER IN AN EXPERIMENTAL TWO-STAGE VERTICAL FLOW CONSTRUCTED WETLAND SYSTEM EQUIPPED WITH A CALCITE FILTER

Constructed lagoon and phosphorus elimination. Performances in term of phosphorus removal were determined in a constructed wetland equipped with a calcite filter. The study was performed in a pilot unit. The residence time ranged between 28 and 99 min. The system removed 62 % of phosphorus. The pH increased of about 0.5 unit. A total of 2.2 kgP/m3 of calcite water was found.
