PHASED UPGRADING FOR NITROGEN REMOVAL - A LOW COST APPROACH

Upgrading a domestic wastewater treatment plant for nitrogen removal. In Australia, a plant was re-design without additional tanks to get a nitrification and a denitrification. The nitrogen reduction represents 3 t N/d. The results is discussed in terms of denitrification performances, COD and BOD removal. An economic approach is given.
