NITROGEN REMOVAL OF HIGH STRENGTH WASTEWATER VIA NITRITATION/DENITRITATION USING A SEQUENCING BATCH REACTOR

Sequencing batch reactor for nitrification-denitrification. A SBR pilot unit was working during 1 year to remove nitrogen of biosolid dewatering liquids at high concentration 1200 g/m3. The retention time was 10 h and he removal rate was 1.05 kgN/m3.d. A total nitrogen reduction by nitrification/denitrification of 96-98 % was obtained.
