NUTRIENT AND HEAVY METAL UPTAKE AND STORAGE IN CONSTRUCTED WETLAND SYSTEMS IN ARIZONA
Elimination of heavy metals (copper, lead, zinc...) in plant tissues including herbaceous species (Yerba mansa, bulrush, cattail, ash cottonwood, willow) receiving wastewater or municipal water in the use of constructed wetland technology. Data indicate that uptake varies not only among plant species but also among chemical species depending upon water quality within the wetlands.
