Simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorous removal. An anaerobic-anoxic system with nitrite pathways was studied. A sequencing batch reactor was carried out to treat a high concentration wastewater. The influence of dissolved oxygen consumption was studied on the nitrite production. Mechanisms for each operating condition are described.
