NITRITE ACCUMULATION IN THE TREATMENT OF WASTEWATERS WITH HIGH AMMONIA CONCENTRATION
High ammonia concentration treatments. The classical nitrification mechanisms show the production of nitrite which are oxidised in nitrate. In a laboratory study the treatment of a high ammonia concentration wastewater gives a high concentration of nitrite and then an inhibition of the oxidation. The limits of the process are quantified and discussed.
