KINETICS OF 4-NITROPHENOL BIODEGRADATION IN A SEQUENCING BATCH REACTOR

This paper assess the kinetics of 4-nitrophenol (4NP) biodegradation Experiments were carried out with a mixed bacterial culture gradually acclimated to 4NP to verify the performance of a periodic system (SBR) in the biological removal this toxic compound. Experimental results, particularly removal rates, acclimation times, and settling characteristics of produced sludge are developed and discussed.
