CALIFORNIA'S FIRST AERATION PLANTS FOR CORROSION CONTROL
Carbon dioxide removal. Some ground waters in California have a high concentration of carbon dioxide and then a high pH. In order to avoid corrosion problems, aeration systems (pilot units and full-scale processes) were designed and tested. The pH increases from 6.1-6.3 to 7.1-7.6 and radon level showed a 99 % reduction to 33 pCi/L. Theses treatments were integrated in water treatment plants.
