BIODEGRADATION DURING CONTAMINANT TRANSPORT IN POROUS MEDIA : 4. IMPACT OF MICROBIAL LAG AND BACTERIAL CELL GROWTH
Materials and methods of transport are presented in two porous media : quartz sand and loaming sand.Miscible displacement experiments were conducted in duplicate . Breakthrough curves were obtained for the substrates by determining the concentration of naphtalene salicylate or succinate in the effluent samples. The transport is made in sterilized and therefore in inoculated sand by Pseudomonas. Change in the overall bacterial population was quantified. Comparison of cell elution in the absence and the presence of salicylate.
