VELOCITY PROFILES AND UNSTEADY PIPE FRICTION IN TRANSIENT FLOW
Review of flow models in closed conduits taking account of velocity profiles and friction losses. Review of the significance of the 1D assumption and the historical approaches proposed for improving the numérical modeling of transient events such as valve operations. Expêrimental tests showing flow recirculation, flow reversal and increased intensity of fuid turbulence, water hammer and head loss.
