USING UV TO INACTIVATE CRYPTOSPORIDIUM

Study in laboratory on the inactivation of cryptosporidium oocysts by UV. The objectives are to establish a dose respons curve for criptosporidium oocysts in deionisazed water to determine the effect of lamp type on oocyst inactivation as measured by the neonatal mouse model and to examine the activity of medium pressure UV to inactivate oocysts. The study demonstrates that extremly low dosages of UV can be highly effective for inactivating oocysts.
