THE USE OF JAR-FILTRATION TESTS TO COMPARE PERFORMANCES OF COAGULANTS IN DIRECT FILTRATION
Filtration tests. In order to determine the efficiencies of coagulation flocculation used in direct filtration, a jar filtration procedure is proposed. It is applied to river water with a turbidity between 0.5 and 2.3 NTU, a pH = 8.0 and a COD of 2.6 mg/L. Influence of 6 different coagulants was studied to obtain a turbidity less than 0.1 NTU. Best results were got with ferric chloride but the COD removal was small about 23 %.
