Problem of hydrocarbons in spinning mill wastewater and possibility of elimination by partial chemical oxidation followed by biological treatment. It is found that the chemical pre-treatment accelerates considerably the biological degradation of hydrocarbons and notably synthetic lubricants. The necessary treatment time in the bioreactor varies from 1 to 12 days according to concentrations. Activated sludge is required for high sludge loading.
