TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE URBAN STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
New directives for the management of urban stormwater prioritise infiltration and direct discharge into receiving waters. Different urban surfaces are classified according to their potential for pollutant wash-off. Hazardous effects in the aquatic and terrestrial environment are identified. The choice of alternative materials for the construction of buildings, roads and vehicles is considered as the most sustainable. Soil passage and new adsorber systems have been investigated. Creation of ponds, reed-beds, dishes...is proposed.
