SUSTAINABILITY OF THERMAL OXIDATION PROCESSES : STRENGTHS FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM

In this paper incineration of wastewater sludges is compared to agriculture disposal considering environmental impact. Toxicity criteria,greenhouse effect gases release,energy wasting and other environmental parameters are discussed. Landfilling is also considered but as a standby route. Power generation can improve the eco-balance of sludge incineration.
