SOLUTE TRANSPORT IN A SINGLE FRACTURE WITH NEGLIGIBLE MATRIX PERMEABILITY : 1. FUNDAMENTAL MECHANISMS
Heterogeneity of the flow-velocity field and hydrodynamic dispersion with constant or varying fracture apertures are discussed. Discretised representation of apertures in a fracture plane is given. Influence of effects of matrix diffusion and experimental evidence and discussion on factors of influence to matrix diffusion and relevance of laboratory measurements to the field scale are detailed. Evaluation of sorption reactions in matrix and fracture is made.
