REMOVAL OF SELECTED OZONATION BY-PRODUCTS IN PILOT SCALE DRINKING WATER BIOFILTERS: COMPOUND INTERACTIONS AND MASS TRANSFER CONSIDERATIONS
Biofiltration of ozonated water. Ozone by-products such as low molecular aldehydes and carboxylic acid are remove by biological degradation. A pilot scale study approaches the mechanisms and the biodegradation relationship between methylglyoxal and pyruvate. The biodegradation competition between these two compounds is shown and discussed in term of mass transfer and transformation pathway.
