Analytical expressions for the temporal moments of a solute influenced by multiple reactions are obtained. Illustrative examples are used to discuss the effect of various rate processes on the velocity, dispersion, and skewness of the breakthrough curves. The coupling of transformation and spreading considerably influences the behaviour of solute compared to that of a conservative solute. When transformation of solute does occur, the Presence or absence of transformation in the rate-limited sorption domains plays an important role in determining the moments of the breakthrough curve.
