Rotating biological contactor (RBC) for the removal of E. coli. An investigation of E. coli present in a wastewater previously treated by an anaerobic sludge blanket contactor was presented. The impact of stirring, dissolved oxygen concentration, pH and cationic polymer addition was studied. A high removal rate was found. Mechanisms integrating an adsorption of E. coli onto the biofilm were proposed.
