NITROGEN REMOVAL FROM PIGGERY WASTE WITH ANAEROBIC PRETREATMENT

The study included anaerobic pretreatment with various in-fluent by-pass rates to control the temperature and to mi-nimize the external carbon requirement for denitrification. To find the optimum operating conditions both lab-scale AnSBR(anaerobic sequencing batch reactor) and anoxic/oxic SBR were operating at 35°C. The optimum rates of by-pass were 1.0 for winter, 0.4 for spring and 0.2-0.4 for summer respectively. The optimum residence time were 16 days for AnSBR and 17 days for anoxic/oxic SBR with the corrected nitrite nitrification rate.(2004/05/06)
