MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT IN THE ANAEROBIC-AEROBIC BAFFLED FILTER REACTOR AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
This paper presents pilot-scale experiments with anaerobic-aerobic treatment of municipal wastewater. As the anaerobic part of the pilot-scale system, an anaerobic baffled filter reactor (ABFR) was used. An ABFR represents a combination of anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR) with anaerobic filter (AF). The aerobic post-treatment reactor used was a fixed-biomass reactor using polypropylene cords as a biomass carrier. Special attention was focused on nitrification and denitrification processes in this type of reactor at lower ambient temperature.
