METALS IN COMBINED CONVENTIONAL AND VEGETATED ROAD RUNOFF CONTROL SYSTEMS
Road wastewater treatments. A combined conventional and vegetated treatment system is design and tested. The process comprises an oil separator, a sediment trap, a grassy slope and a constructed wetland. The system is applied to wastewater coming from a road (traffic 30 000 vehicles /d) Suspended solid are well removed and metal ions (zinc and copper) are found in sediments. However, metal ions have a different behavior between the two systems showing complex mechanisms of removal.
