ISOLATION AND DETERMINATION OF POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS IN SURFACE RUNOFF AND SEDIMENTS

This paper reports on the determination of Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons in surface runoff and sediment samples of Lagos, Osogbo and ile-Ife in western parts of Nigeria. This study was necessary because of demonstration of the subtle toxicity of these compounds coupled with the fact that no published investigative data has been reported on PAHs contamination in the street surface runoff and sediments of the study area.
