INVESTIGATION OF VARIATIONS IN MICROBIAL DIVERSITY IN ANAEROBIC REACTORS TREATING LANDFILL LEACHATE

A treatability study realized on a landfill leachate with high ammonia rates is presented. Variations in microbial diversity (VMD) in upflow anaerobic sludge blanket and hybrid bed reactor treating the same effluent were monitored using several molecular genetic methods. Correlation between VMD and fluctuations in reactor performances and its reciprocal effects are presented and discussed.
