IMPROVING THE BIOLOGICAL NITROGEN REMOVAL PROCESS IN PHARMACEUTICAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS : A CASE STUDY
An example of pharmaceutical wastewater treatment plant. In a complex mixture, the biological ammonia removal is determined. The toxic organics, for example the phenylenediamine, inhibate the biodegradation and the nitrification-denitrification reactions in the activated sludge basin. Contact times are optimized.
