IMPROVEMENT OF ORGANICS REMOVAL BY BIOCERAMIC FILTRATION OF RAW WATER WITH ADDITION OF PHOSPHORUS
Experimental investigation of the effect of phosphorus addition on the biological pre-treatment of a raw water from a reservoir in Beijing through the use of pilot-scale bio-ceramic filters. Measured values in terms of bacterial regrowth potential (BRP) and biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) of the raw water with addition of 50 micrograms of PO3/4-PL-1. Phosphorus was a limiting nutrient for bacterial growth in the investigated raw water and its addition could improve the performance of bio-ceramic filter on organic removal.
