IMPACT OF TEMPERATURE ON NITRIFICATION IN BIOLOGICAL ACTIVATED CARBON (BAC) FILTERS USED FOR DRINKING WATER TREATMENT
Biological activated carbon filters. Influence of temperature (T) ranging 4 to 10°C was studied in a pilot unit and a full-scale system. Two different activated carbons were used as packing materials. Ammonia removal were a function of temperature: 30% for T below 4°C and 40 to 90 % for T above 10°C. In this case, wood based adsorbent with an external opened structure have given better results more than 90 % nitrification.
