FORMATION OF DENSITY CURRENTS IN SECONDARY CLARIFIER

Study of the internal flow patterns and temperature profiles in a 1:25 scale prototype rectangular activated sludge secondary clarifier to investigate the principal causes of density currents. Observed flow regimes were very similar in the laboratory experiments with tap water and the field experiments with mixed liquor.
