Cysts inactivation by UV light. The The germicide effect of UV was measured on the Giardia lamblia and Giardia muris cysts by the most probable number techniques. An intensity of about 3mJ/cm2 (10 fold lower that in a large reactor) was applied with a low pressure lamp, 99 % (2-log) inactivation was observed.
