EFFECT OF RESIDUAL CHLORINE ON THE ANALYSIS OF GEOSMIN, 2-MIB AND MTBE IN DRINKING WATER USING THE SPME TECHNIQUE
Effect of chlorine on the odorous molecule analysis. The influence of the residual chlorine concentrations is studied on the pre-concentration by solid phase microextraction (SPME) of three organic compounds: geosmin, methylisoborneol (2-MIB) and methyl ter-butyl ether (MTBE). An experimental error ranges between 10 to 70 % is observed as a function of chlorine concentration present in drinking water. Thus, water dechlorination is required to get an error less than 10 %.
