EFFECT OF OZONATION AND UV IRRADIATION WITH DIRECT FILTRATION ON DISINFECTION AND DISINFECTION BY-PRODUCT PRECURSORS IN DRINKING WATER TREATMENT
Ozonation and UV influences on by-product precursors. In drinking water, influences of oxidation and disinfection by ozone and UV irradiation were studied on TOC given trihalomethanes and total organic halides. Fecal coliforms measurements suggest that ozonation is not efficient due to competition with organic compound reactions. However, advanced oxidations show a significant reduction (90 to 98 %) of halide by-product precursors.
