DUTCH ANALYSIS FOR P-RECOVERY FROM MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER

Review of the possibilities to extract phosphate from the municipal wastewater treatment plants instead of phosphate rock extraction by Thermphos International and for the needs of the fertiliser industry, through precipitation or biological removal processes. All end products from the final sludge treatment do not provide a good source of secondary phosphate. As a consequence the most preferred possibility for P recovery is to extract phosphate before sludge goes to the final sludge treatment. The precipitation technique is preferred.
