DETERMINATION OF NON-IONIC SURFACTANTS AND THEIR BIOTRANSFORMATION BY-PRODUCTS ADSORBED ON ALIVE ACTIVATED SLUDGE

Biotransformation and adsorption of surfactants on activated sludge. Analysis of non-ionic surfactant and polyethylene glycol is performed on activated sludge. By-products and especially short-chained ethoxylates, coming from biodegradation of such compounds are determined. Adsorption of these surfactants is found higher on dead bacteria than on alive activated sludge.
