COMPARISON OF NITRIFICATION INHIBITION BY METALS IN BATCH AND CONTINUOUS FLOW REACTORS
Nitrification inhibition in batch or continuous reactors. Metal ions (Cu, Zn, Ni and Cd) was injected in a wastewater effluent to inhibate nitrification. The mass balance and a linear partition coefficient allow to fit the profile of metal ions in the dynamic reactor. A model is proposed integrating the profile of metal ion and a slow kinetics of ion internalisation or an exacerbation effect. The effect in batch and continuous flow reactors are discussed fore each metallic ion.
