CAPTURE AND CLEANUP OF A MIGRATING VOC PLUME BY THE IN-WELL VAPOR STRIPPING : A SAND TANK EXPERIMENT
Experimental apparatus included a laboratory scale aquifer in which a well prototype , a recharge area and 38 monitoring points were constructed. The experiments are realized with three organic compounds : trichloroethylene (TCE), chloroform and toluene. Analytical procedure and control experiments are presented. Potassium breakthrough curves at six observation wells each at four horizons are discussed. A stripping ratio reflects the removal importance of volatil organic compounds from the bottom to the top of well. Numerical simulations with flow and transport parameters give iso-concentration contours of toluene along cross-sections.
