BIOFILM REMOVAL CAUSED BY CHEMICAL TREATMENTS
Biofilm behavior and chemical presence. Biofilm removal was investigated as a function of chemical treatments : salts (NaCl, CaCl2, MgCl2) chelating agents surfactants, lysizyme, hypochlorite, monochloramine and concentrated urea. Binary populations (P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae) were reduced about 25 % without difference for the two microbial species. Results suggest multiple interactive forces contributing to biofilm cohesion.
