ARE HYDRODINOSAURS SUSTAINABLE ? A CASE STUDY ON THE RHONE-TO-BARCELONA PROJECTED WATER TRANSFER

History (since the 1950's) and report on the ongoing European review process of the Rhône to Barcelona water transfer project. The aqueduct designed on account of the shortage of drinking and irrigation water by year 2012 in Barcelona and Catalonia will transfer 450 hm3/h in a 15 m3/sec pipe following the highway from Montpellier to Barcelona. Financial and legal issues are raised.
