INNOVATIONEN IN DER ABFLUSSSTEUERUNG=INNOVATIONS IN DISCHARGE CONTROL

For many years, discharge control has already been used as a tool for the effective management and use of sewer networks. This paper provides an overview of developments over the last ten years. Innovations introduced so far are discussed under five aspects: evolution of control targets, integrative approach to the urban drainage system, methodological developments, simulation software, and progress made in the field of measuring, automatic control engineering and communication technology. It becomes obvious that the coordinated control of sewer networks and wastewater treatment plants offers great potentials which in many cases are not adequately used.
